The Klere Steer to a Sustainable Christmas #3

Its 12th night and we now start the process of discarding the 7m or so Christmas trees that have adorned homes and corporate spaces for the last few weeks. These trees sequestered around 120,000 tonnes of CO2e during their lifetime, and will mainly be chipped and composted, releasing the sequestered CO2 back into the atmosphere.
If these were pyrolyzed into #biochar 40% of this – some 48,000 tCO2e – could be locked in and captured long term, reducing the #carbonfootprint of Christmas substantially. Alongside our work in measuring corporate #NatureImpact and mitigation, Klere champions carbon capture by #pyrolysis and is working with Local Authorities to develop biochar capacity as part of the drive to reduce emissions.
We wish all our followers and the wider biochar community a Happy and Sustainable 2025.
